FAQs

Lots of people have questions about meditation before they begin. If you don’t find the answer you are looking for below, or you would just like to know more, please feel free to email me or message me on social media.

1. What should I bring with me to a session?

Please wear comfortable clothing, you may also like to bring a cushion, a bottle of water and maybe your favourite blanket and a note pad too. For Zoom sessions please make sure you have a high backed chair to sit on.

2. I find it really hard to stop my thoughts, does this mean I won’t be able to meditate?

Meditation isn’t about stopping your thoughts. Meditation is about accepting your thoughts, being aware of them and letting them go. We will go through this more during the course but be assured it’s perfectly natural to still have thoughts while you are meditating.

3. There are loads of apps available, why should I get a teacher?

There are loads of brilliant apps available, however, you won’t get your specific questions answered by an app and you won’t get 1:1 guidance either. My courses offer the chance to meet others, learn a new skill and gain a sense of community, all in a relaxed and friendly atmosphere.

4. Do I need to follow a certain religion to meditate?

Although meditation is rooted in some religions, it is not necessary to follow a religion. My sessions do not follow any religious teaching and are open to all. My classes are based on helping you to build your wellbeing.

5. I find it hard to sit on the floor, is this a problem?

Not at all. We will all begin by sitting on chairs. I understand that people have different needs and we can work around these needs. If you have any concerns we can talk about this ahead of the first session.

6. If I start the course, does it mean that I need to make time to meditate each day outside the sessions?

You don’t need to make time every day, we will build your practice throughout the course and give you the tools to meditate at home. If you would like to make time each day that is great but we will build your practice as the course continues, at a pace that works for you.

7. What is your refund policy?

I’m afraid I am not able to offer refunds for courses once you have started, however if the course isn’t for you that’s ok, please let me know and we can talk through why and see if we can come to a solution. Also, I’m afraid I cannot refund 1:1 sessions with less than 24 hours notice.

8. Where did you train to be a meditation teacher?

I trained with the British School of Meditation, I’m fully insured and have a DBS check too.

9. How do I book onto a course?

Either following the booking links at the bottom of the pages or email me at presentmomentmeditation@gmail.com and I look forward to meeting you soon!

10. Who are your courses for?

My courses are for anyone! You may be completely new to meditation and want to give it a go, you may be returning to meditation after a break or maybe you want to develop what you already know. Everyone is welcome and we will go through the sessions at pace suitable for you.
